Nu Ryu

Nu was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and received her BFA in Visual Communication Design from Hong Ik University. She was fascinated with making images in experimental animation and film, but soon found her true love and calling in communicating her artistic vocabulary through drawing and painting. She taught herself and explored the process of working in oils, printmaking, and mixed media, as well as the art of traditional Korean painting. She moved to New York, where she first began making etchings and paintings in a series. After earning her MFA at the School of Visual Arts in Illustration as Visual Essay, Nu has been creating stories and telling them through her work ever since. Her work has been exhibited widely, including the A.I.R. Gallery, Monmouth Museum of Arts, and The National Arts Club with the New York Society of Etchers. Her work also has been featured and published in numerous media and art magazines, and is owned by private collectors in New York as well as internationally.
